 At Country Heart Farm the majority of our equine and animal-assisted therapy activities are completed on the ground. 

Our Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) programs are based upon the Eagala model www.eagala.org .  

We truly believe our visitors are most often the best person to determine the types of life changes they need to make in order to improve their quality of life.  Through active groundwork with the resident animals of Country Heart Farm our equine therapy team members will assist you in meeting your personally specified goals.

Our programs facilitate cognitive, physical and behavioral growth and rehabilitation.  All programs at Country Heart Farm can be adapted to meet the individual needs of someone with a mental or physical disability. 

Country Heart Farm provides a safe and secure judgment-free zone in which our visitors learn and grow through building a personal CONNECTION with our therapy herd, a CONNECTION to self, a CONNECTION to others and a CONNECTION to the natural world.  

The rhythmic soothing TOUCH between humans and animals is beneficial for both species. This type of interaction fosters an improvement in social, emotional, cognitive and physical functioning. 

It is the goal of Country Heart Farm to provide an opportunity by which both humans and animals begin to HEAL on a social, emotional, cognitive, spiritual and physical level.  The end result; a positive impact on the individual client, their family and their community

There is no horseback riding experience or horsemanship skills required to participate in our programs.

Learning to Know, Learning to Do, 

​Learning to Live Together and Learning to Be...

​Utilizes the proven and highly effective "The Leader in Me" as well as "Equine Leadership & Learning" curriculum.

Focus is on both cognitive as well as emotional intelligence.

An excellent adjunct learning experience for students struggling with or at risk of failing a more traditional learning format.

Sessions are once weekly for 3-5 hours (half or full school day).

Consists of both core curriculum educational activities and equine-assisted therapeutic activities. 

It can be customized to include a Life Skills for Youth component to further empower attendees with skills they need to lead productive, successful, balanced, and fulfilling lives.

Equine Assisted Leadership Development & Team Building ​

Why Horses?

​The way individuals interact and react with horses is very similar to the way they interact with their clients, customers, peers, and workgroups. Horses don’t pretend and can’t over-think your feelings; they recognize incongruence between behavior and emotion and tell the true story. People interpret horse behavior/emotions through the lens of their personal perception. How they interpret horses can often be a metaphor for their work, attitudes, and relationships at work and home. 

What Happens?

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is an experiential approach that when utilized in our equine assisted leadership and team building programs fosters communication, cohesiveness, team growth and real lasting change. It is a unique opportunity that goes beyond traditional leadership programs to restore balance in people’s lives while teaching critical thinking, clear communication and social skills.  

Equine Assisted Team Leadership programs are effective in situations as diverse as:

• Building cohesion
• Navigating cultural differences
• Mitigating crisis, Understanding Team Conflict and Effective Management of Conflicts in Teams
• Screening candidates for new hire, Apply Team profiles to Team Management 
• Collaborating with staff to enhance communication and adapt to new management style and initiatives

All workshops and retreats are customized to meet your team's identified needs in a 1, 2 or 3 day format. The longer the format, the more time we can spend on each topic and identified objective...also the more team interaction there is with the horses and other 4 legged team members. We offer unbiased pre and post team evaluations with a realistic follow-up plan for measured success going forward. 

We host guests at our farm house and barn or at our historic off-site conference/retreat facility. Location is group size dependent. We would be happy to discuss a customized program to fit your identified needs.
